''We'll Meath again tour.''

After the Wicklow 200 and the Peaks and Valleys Tour before that and all the training in the hills in between it was good to  be back on the flat country roads in the'' We'll Meath again Tour'' on Sunday the 27 July. Twelve riders turned out for this event that included a good cross section of racing, touring and leisure members and one very welcome lady. It was great to have both Dick O'Brien and Henry Whelan along following their recent layoff. It started from the Popes Cross at ten am in ideal cycling weather and although the rain threatened a few times it remained dry throughout. The route left the park through Whites Gate, up Weakses road, down the Sand Pits around Westmanstown golf club and into Dunboyne. From there it was out along the Navan road to Fairyhouse through Ratoath and on into Skyrne. The return to Dunboyne was along the Trim road from where Peter Schweppe showed us an alternative route passed a stud farm that came straight out of a fairytale. The group stayed together the 50 odd miles and all agreed it was a very enjoyable event. Two points will be awarded for this event. The next event is the 100 in 8 on Sunday 24th August.
