| There was a strong
sense of spring in the air as 44 riders (including 5 visitors from
N.Ireland) headed off from the Pope’s Cross on Sunday last
for Round 2 of the Leisure League. The conditions were ideal as
the group was led at a very controlled pace through Cabra, Finglas,
Dublin Airport to Ballyboughal where once again that Nag raised
its ugly head and split the bunch. The tour then headed over part
of the last stage of the Ras from Naul to Balbriggan. The comfort
stop on the road to Skerries came as small comfort to those who
were very quickly dropped as the pace quickened considerably after
Skerries and several smaller groups made their way back to the Park.

The weather was magic, the course was in good condition,
the seaviews were awesome and the members of Swords CC, who were
very much on home ground, were dominant up front. Thankfully there
were no accidents or injuries as members are becoming more and more
safety conscious. The total distance was 90km and 2 league points
were awarded to all participants.
On behalf of the IVCA I would like to thank Evelyn Doyle and Theresa
Murphy for organizing this very enjoyable tour.
Round 3, the 50 in 4, will take place on Sunday 16th March from
Pope’s Cross at 9.00am
and will be organised once again by John Heery who has promised
us much better weather than last year.
