I.V.C.A.
50 In 4 18th March 2007
Thankfully nobody it seems took any notice of the awful weather
forecast that Met Eireann had issued for this years 50/4. Almost
60 riders signed on and there were quite a number of non-members
that came along also.
Going out through Dunboyne, Maynooth and Donadea a very strong
northwest headwind meant that the pace was kept steady and this
allowed everyone to keep in contact with the bunch. There was
one incident of a rider coming into contact with the tarmac but
thankfully no bones were broken and he was able to complete the
event.
On the return journey through Clane, Celbridge, Lucan and the
Strawberry Beds, the tailwind sent a surge of speed down through
the bunch that had everyone riding on their big rings. Our arrival
back into the Phoenix Park at 12.30 meant that we covered the
set distance easily within the permitted time allowed.
