I V C A LEISURE LEAGUE
NORTH DUBLIN TOUR REPORT
There was a great relaxed atmosphere in the carpark at the Papal
Cross on Sunday 18th February for Round 2 of the IVCA Leisure
League, organised this year by Teresa Murphy and Evelyn Doyle
of the Touring Group and run over the now very familiar North
County Dublin route.
A cold, crisp, sunny and still morning afforded the 53 riders
ideal conditions as they were led out through Cabra, Finglas and
the noisy ‘plains’ of St. Margarets, Dublin Airport
and Knocksedan by Leisure Tour Director, Gay Farnan.
The fairly steep climbs of Ballyboughal and The Naul took their
toll and very quickly the bunch was split into several smaller
groups so the rolling coast road from Balbriggan to Skerries came
as a welcome relief. The tour then headed through Lusk to the
Old Belfast Road turning at Cloghran for the same route back to
the Park.
There were 2 minor incidents but thankfully no injury worries,
and a most enjoyable spin was had by all. The total distance was
90km and 2 leisure league points were awarded to all participants.
Round 3, the 50 in 4 will take place on Sunday 18th March from
the Papal Cross at 9.00 am. This is a bank holiday weekend and
the week before racing begins so an equally big turnout is expected.
