League 2006.
East Meath Tour January 15
The 1st round of 2006 Leisure League took place on Sunday Last
15th January.
The event known as the East Meath Tour started from the Papal
Cross in Phoenix Park at 10.00am and attracted 21 riders. As the
Newsletter was not out on time to inform members of the event
the numbers were down on last year. The route was the now familiar
run out through Clonee and Dunboyne to Moynalvy and due to a number
of punctures near the start the route was shortened and did not
continue to Dunsany and Dunshaughlin but returned along the Trim
road to the Navan road before returning to the Park. According
to the weather forecast the day was to be very wet and windy but
except for a breeze which was at our back on the way out the day
was not that bad at all. The group stayed together until a split
while trying to cross the Navan road at the Blackbull that left
a few stragglers including yours truly to carry the lantern rouge
to the finish.
Two points were awarded for this event; the next round is the
North Dublin Tour on Sunday 19th February starting from the Papal
Cross at 10.00am
