There was a fantastic turn out for first round of the 2005 Leisure League on Sunday last 16th January. In all 42 cyclists took part, 5 ladies and 37 men. The start was scheduled for 10.00 am but due to the large turn out it was 10.15 before we finally got away and although the morning was bright and sunny to begin with a heavy shower started just as we left the Popes Cross car park that left the roads very dirty. By the time we reached Clonee the sun came out and the rest of the day remained dry if a little breezy. The route was similar to last year passing through Clonee, Dunboyne and on to Moynalvey. The Trim road was crossed just beyond cross keys before turning right in Dunsaney for Dunshaughlin and the return Journey along the Navan road to the Park, total distance 67Kms. There were a few punctures along the way and one broken chain in Dunboyne and apart from that there were no other incidents reported It was great to see so many taking part in this event with many regulars alongside a host of newcomers. It was also great to so many Ladies present. 2 points were awarded for the event. The next round will be on Sunday 13th February Starting from the Popes Cross at 10.00am were all are welcome. |
