Leisure League 2004
Event 4 - Peaks and Valleys Tour Sunday April 18th 2004
14 riders took part in the Peaks and Valleys Tour on
Sunday 18th April.
The start was from the Square Shopping Centre Tallaght
at 9.00am. The route was the traditional trip up the embankment
through Blessington and on to Hollywood before tackling the climb
over the Wicklow gap. After a well earned cuppa in Laragh it was into
another climb up past the Glenmacnass waterfall to Sally gap before
dropping down onto the N81 for the return to base. The weather was
dry and sunny on the way out but a hail shower approaching Sally gap
made the going tough however it did not last long. Most made it back
to base before the next heavy shower but a few late comers got caught
and got very wet. All in all it was an enjoyable day and all who took
part agreed it was a good warm up for the Wicklow 200. Three points
were awarded for this event.
The next leisure event is the East Coast Tour on
Sunday 16th May starting from Merrion Square at 9.00am with an
alternative start point in Shankill one hour later. This event will
be another warm up for the Wicklow 200 as it will include part of the
course used and will involve at least one of the climbs. |
