Gay Farnan, winner of the Leisure League 2003 Tour of North Dublin on Sunday February 15th The second round of the Leisure League took place on Sunday last 15th Feb. 28 riders took part which is a great turn out for this time of year. The morning was cool and misty to begin with but took up later in the morning into a beautiful fine sunny spring day. The route was similar to last year with a start at the Papal Cross in the park and an alternative start at the Boot Inn on the old Airport road. From hear it went through Ballyboughal and up the long drag to the top of the hill before descending into the Naul village. After Balbriggan on the road to Skerries with yours truly not cycling due to an ( non cycling) injury and opting to do the catering for the day instead we had a tea stop picnic style before continuing on. The remainder of the route went off without incident however the main bunch split into smaller groups as the pace increased along the Swords road and this is the way it finished up. The distance was approx 60 miles, 2 points were awarded for each participants. The next Leisure event is the first Tour of the year The 50 in 4 on Sunday 21st March when we expect a big turn out. |
